    This is a

    USN
    New Mexico Class Battleship
    Metal Model
    that I believe to be made by
    Comet.
    It is about 6 1/8" long.  There are a few minor bends to gun barrels and there are a few scattered light scuffs and small areas of wear to the paint as well. This model is also missing an
    antenna
    pole.
    Comet Metal Products was based in New York
    .
    They were one of only a few companies who were tasked with producing the identification models for the US military. That would have been the original purpose of the model. They also continued producing them after the war as toys and collectibles. They went out of business in the 1950's.
