The Sam Browne Belt is an iconic part of British uniforms through the latter part of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century (see last picture for reference). Skipper was an officer in the REME during World War 2 and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on Jan 15th, 1944 and later to Lieutenant on July 15th, 1944.
